Taking part in the discussions on the Resolution Motion regarding relief and rehabilitation to the earthquake affected people, they urged the political leadership to pay attention to the need for the political parties to be united and work in the service of the people as necessitated by the calamity. The MPs also expressed their support to the resolution motion.
CPN-UML lawmaker Surendra Pandey suggested making public all the details of the damage caused by the devastating earthquake on April 25 within 15 days, distributing relief to the affected people identifying the genuine quake victims and formulating plan for setting up systematic settlements. He also said that the formation of a national unity government and issuing a new constitution should not be delayed in the present adverse situation.
Nepali Congress MP Mohan Bahadur Basnet said the April 25 earthquake caused the most damage in his district, Sindhupalchok, and complained that relief has not yet reached many villages there and the distribution system was too not effective.
UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Haribol Gajurel stressed on the meticulous abidance of the Resolution Motion, warning the people's trust on party leaders will fall apart if that was not the case given the weaknesses in implementation of the agreements and understandings reached in the past.
Janardan Sharma of the same party underlined the need of bringing concrete plans based on the resolution proposal and implementing the same. He also stressed on issuing the new constitution to lift up the spirit of the people which was down after the earthquake.
Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal's lawmaker Sushil Kumar Shrestha faulted the government for inadequate preparation despite the possibility of the earthquake striking anytime due to which people could not avail of the relief promptly in the face of the disaster.
Rastriya Prajatantra Party's Bikram Pandey alleged the government of incompetency to handle the situation in the aftermath of the earthquake and called on the government to move ahead forging national consensus in the days ahead.
Lawmakers Yogendra Chaudhary, Chhaya Sharma Panta, Bimal Kumar Kedia, Aindra Si\undar Nembang, Brijesh Kumar Gupta, Anuradha Thapa Magar, Rameshwar Dhungel, Parbat Gurung, Ganesh Thapa, Geeta Rana Chhetri also participated in the discussions on the Resolution Proposal.
