KATHMANDU, Oct 1: General Secretary of the main opposition Nepali Congress Dr Shashank Koirala has demanded the government to launch a fair and independent investigation against Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara who has courted controversy after sexually harassing a female employee at the Federal Parliament.
Addressing a program in Kathmandu on Tuesday, leader Koirala opined that accusations against Mahara were serious and therefore the government should take immediate action after a fair investigation into the case.
Following the accusations and widespread criticism, Mahara stepped down from his post earlier on Tuesday afternoon.
