KATHMANDU, March 5: The last rites of teenage student from Chitwan, Shalin Pokharel, who was found dead in her school dormitory, were performed on Tuesday. Pokharel was cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat today.
Shalin's father cremated her mortal body. Relatives present there demanded a fair investigation into Shalin's death and justice for her.
On the other hand, the court allowed 3 people, including the principal of Ekta Shishu Niketan Boarding School, who were arrested in the Pokharel death case, to be detained for 4 more days. DSP Sriram Bhandari of the District Police Office, Chitwan, said that on Monday permission was obtained from the district court to keep him in custody for 4 more days for investigation.
On Saturday morning, 14-year-old Pokhrel, who was living in the hostel of Ekta Shishu Niketan Boarding School in Ratnanagar Municipality-15, was found dead in her room.
Her body, found hanging by a rope from the ceiling fan in the hostel room, was brought to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, for a postmortem as per the demand of her family members.
