LALITPUR, August 3: Under the Kanti Highway connecting Kathmandu to Hetauda, the road has been blocked due to a landslide in Bhattedanda, Devisandh of Bagmati Rural Municipality-3.

Local Ramesh Kumar Sanjel said that along with that ward, Ward No. 2 Malta, 4 Pyutar, 5 Ikudol, 6 Asrang, 7 Gimdi and the road going to Manthali via Faparbari and Hetauda through the highway Lokpath are blocked. The landslide has also resulted in power outage, and milk and vegetable transportation has also been stopped.
Sanjel said that it’s not possible to transport the 5000-6000 kilos of vegetables that reach Kathmandu daily from the rural municipality and that the vegetables have to be destroyed. Efforts are being made to clear the road. Bir Bahadur Lopchan, chairman of the rural municipality, said that if there is no rain this afternoon, they are preparing to remove the landslide debris by using an excavator.
