Lamichhane elected NRNA prez

KATHMANDU, Oct 14:
Jiba Lamichhane has unanimously been elected president of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) on the final day of the Fifth Global NRN Conference in the capital on Friday.



Lamichhane, who took over from Dev Man Hirachan as NRNA president, was unanimously elected to the post after Hirachan, the other contender, agreed to withdraw his candidacy at the last moment. [break]



An announcement about  withdrawal of Hirachan´s candidacy  was made during the ongoing closed camp session of the NRNA. Both the contenders were present on the occasion.

 

Shortly after the announcement, Hirachan, standing alongside Lamichhane, said, "There does not exist any differences between us."



He also said he decided to step aside to make way for Lamichhane´s election to NRNA presidency and wished him a successful tenure.
