KATHMANDU, Sept 30: Uma Aryal Lamichhane has been elected as the chairperson of the Community Self Reliance Service Center (CSRC), which has been working in the field of land and agricultural rights for a long time.
According to the Executive Director Jagat Deuja of the CSRC, the 29th annual general meeting (AGM) of the center has elected a seven-member executive committee led by Lamichhane, comprising Vice-Chairperson Hari prasad Pudasaini, Secretary Man Bahadur Kshetri, Treasurer Cheli Gurung, and members Saraswati Katwal, Durga Kumari Bishwakarma, and Indra Prasad Ram.

The AGM also approved plans to expand the land rights movement in districts facing severe land issues aiming to collaborate with local governments as the national government has initiated processes through commissions to provide land to the landless. Additionally, the meeting endorsed programs such as investing in the strengthening of the organization.
Currently, the center operates in 19 districts. CSRC priorities include assisting local governments in formulating land-related policies, protecting agricultural land through land-use plans, engaging in regular debates on policy issues, and publishing ideological resources on land matters.
