Lama Maharjan win gold medals

KATHMANDU, July 10: Ang Babu Lama and Binita Maharjan, the 11th South Asian Games gold medalists, won gold medals on the opening day of the First National Inter Kwan Wushu Championship on Sunday.



Lama and Maharjan from Central Kwan won gold in the tai chi chuan of the men´s and women´s categories respectively. [break]



Lama scored 9.50 points out of 10 to stand first in his event, whereas Hari Prasad Gole from Makawanpur stood second with 8.40 points. Dhruba Raj Neupane from Rupandehi finished third with 8.30 points.



Maharjan scored 8.80 points to win gold in the women´s category while Ganga Thapa accumulated 7.11 points for the second position. Niru Thapa from Bardiya claimed the third spot with seven points.



Nirajan Ale Magar of Bahu Uddeshyiya Martial Art Center won gold in the men´s chan chuan with 9.05 points. His kwan mate Bikash Rai took silver with nine points.



Sami Lama from Balambu Kwan accumulated 7.75 points to win the women´s chan chuan, while Srijana Gurung from Bardiya stood second with 7.55 points. Lama´s teammate Ocean Rai was third with 7.30 points.



Raju Maharjan claimed the first position in men´s nan chuan event of the tournament organized by Nepal Wushu Association at the National Sports Council covered hall. Maharjan scored 9.65 points, while Sunny Shrestha scored 9.95 points for silver.



Bidya Maharjan of Central Kwan won gold in women´s nan chuan scoring 8.25 points while Man Kumari Chaudhary from Bardiya finished second with 6 points.
