Laligurans Club triumph in Sydney

KATHMANDU, Oct 13: Nepacoms Laligurans Cricket Club won the GNC Super Sixes 2010 Cricket Tournament organized by Nepalese Cricket Association of Australia (NCAA) at the Lees Park Canterbury, Sydney on Tuesday.



Laligurans defeated Mirchi Lumbini Cricket Club by 13 runs in the final.



Laligurans scored 73/3 as skipper Arjyan Aryal (27 unbeaten) and Ganesh DC (19 unbeaten) played a 60-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Despite Govinda Karki´s 31 runs for Lumbini, they were restricted to 60/3 in the allotted five overs.



Seven teams including GCA, Sendpaisa Kuleshwor, Pacific College of Technology, Intouch Sagarmatha and Myagdi United participated in the event that saw teams competing in two groups and top teams playing the finals.



Kahiju clinches badminton title



Krishna Sundar Kahiju clinched the men´s singles title of Bhaktapur Open District-wide Badminton Tournament on Wednesday.



Kahiju, representing the hosts Bhaktapur Badminton Club, defeated his club-mate Indra Bhakta Pancha 22-20, 21-18 in the final match.



Surendra Prajapati and Prem Bhakta Jayana jointly secured third position.



In the men´s doubles, Prem Bhakta Jayana teamed up with Raju Sahukhala to defeat the pair of Sunil Hona and Raju Khumbu 21-14, 26-24 in the final to lift the title.
