KANCHANPUR, July 8: Security men deployed for the security of Kanchanpur district prison have been forced to live in the bunkers since decades due to the lack sufficient space for them.

Four policemen including a police sub-inspector have been forced to live in the bunkers due to the lack of space. Likewise, 19 policemen have been using the office room as their living room and seven policemen use store room for sleep. Two policewomen have taken rooms in rent near the prison.

The lack of living space has also made it hard for the policemen to provide security as they remain scattered. The jail has been broken three times in the past due to the lack of tight security. Employees at the prison said no agency concerned has paid attention to infrastructure development of the jail.
