BIRATNAGAR, Jan 8: Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula has officially registered his nomination for the National Assembly elections from Koshi Province.
The nomination registration took place in Biratnagar, the provincial capital, with the support of backers including Pradeep Sunuwar and Himal Karki.
Why did NC leader Sitaula choose a different path?
Having faced a defeat in the previous House of Representatives elections against Rajendra Lingden of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Sitaula is now vying for a position in the National Assembly.
In a strategic move, the ruling coalition decided to divide the vacant National Assembly seats in Koshi Province, aiming for representation from both Nepali Congress and Maoists.
Following this strategy, Champa Karki from CPN (Maoist Center) promptly registered her nomination right after Sitaula.
Meanwhile, CPN-UML has chosen to nominate Rukmini Chaudhary and Parashuram Adhikari for the same positions.
