KOICA agrees to provide 550 million to Nepal

KATHMANDU, Sept 26: The Korea International Agency (KOICA) of Republic of Korea has agreed to provide Rs 550 million to Nepal the project for enhancing the quality of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) through capacity building of TVET Instructors in Nepal.

KATHMANDU, Sept 26: The Korea International Agency (KOICA) of Republic of Korea has agreed to provide Rs 550 million to Nepal the project for enhancing the quality of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) through capacity building of TVET Instructors in Nepal. 


A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed and exchanged at the Ministry of finance, Kathmandu, today.

Rok (South Korea)'s Ambassador for Nepal, Park Yong Sik and Finance Secretary Rajan Khanal signed on the document on behalf of their respective sides. 


The overall goal of this project is to improve the quality of the TVET System of better TVET education in Nepal by enhancing the competitiveness of TVET Instructors and technical institute for technical Instruction (TITI). It aims at to strengthen the capacity of TVET instructors as well as TITI Trainers and establish an Information Technology center in TITI for enhancing technological capacity of TVET human resources in Nepal, the Ministry said in a press statement. 


This project is a technical cooperation from the Government of Korea to the Government of Nepal. The Ministry of education, Science and Technology will be executing agency of the project. KOICA and CTEVT/TITI will be the implementing agency. The duration of the project will be from 2018 to 2020 AD. 


The Government of Nepal has expressed its appreciation to the government of Korea for this assistance and its continued support in the socio-economic development of Nepal.
