KATHMANDU, May 29: Chairman of Kantipur Media Group (KMG) Kailash Sirohiya has been released on his own recognizance nine days after his arrest on charges of citizenship fraud.
DSP Ranjan Awa at the District Police Office, Dhanusha, informed that Sirohiya was released on the condition that he appears before the police when summoned on Wednesday.
He said, "We recommended to the District Police Office, Lalitpur, to release him on a general date. They have also released him in the presence of his family members. We have released him on the condition that he will appear when the police call him."

Sirohiya, who was arrested in a citizenship case, was brought to Kathmandu by a helicopter on Tuesday.
Last Friday, Sirohiya was admitted to Kavya Hospital in Janakpur due to health problems. Following a referral by his doctor, Sirohiya was airlifted to Kathmandu by a helicopter for further treatment, according to DSP Ranjan Awa,
Doctors have reported that Sirohiya suffers from heart and high blood pressure issues. He has been referred to Medicity Hospital in Kathmandu for advanced medical care.
On May 21, Sirohiya was arrested by police at the KMG office in Kathmandu. He was then taken to Dhanusha based on a complaint of citizenship offense filed on April 28 by Madhesh Provincial Assembly member of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Indrajit Prasad Mahato.
On Monday, the Dhanusha District Court extended the investigation period for the third time, granting an additional three days.
