KATHMANDU, Dec 14: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City is to forward process to take action against Durbarmarg-based Hotel Yak &Yeti after it turned a deaf ear to the KMC's request to pay tax.
According to the KMC, it is going to start the process to take action against the Hotel as it has not paid tax on any topic so far even after other star hotels have already come under the tax net.

KMC Revenue Division Chief, Dhurba Kafle, warned of stopping all services and facilities provided to the Hotel by KMC in the first phase as per the Clause 165 (2) of the Local Self Governance Act-2055 BS.
Similarly, Hotel administration and account section would be padlocked in the second-phase while power supply and drinking water facility would be cut-down in the third-phase if the Hotel denies paying tax.
KMC said that although the Hotel has submitted the details of the tax, it was fake one. The Hotel has to pay tax of 20 years, it paid only one million rupees two years ago, added KMC.
According to the KMC, the Hotel has to pay around one million rupees to Rs 1.2 million tax every year. Kafle said that other star hotels paid around Rs 70 million as tax in the fiscal year 2015/16. A total of 13 star hotels are in operation in Kathmandu. RSS
