Shrestha said the KMC has obtained expert advice from the Kathmandu Upatakya Khanepani Limited (KUKL) for the plan. “The experts at KUKL have given approval on our plan to dig up a bore,” he said. The water will be pumped from 300 meters below.
The KMC said a tender notice will be published soon for digging the bore. “Ranipokhari is one of the country´s historically significant places,” Shrestha said adding, “We should conserve it.”
The KMC has already started harvesting rain water from the Darbur High School and from the Tri Chandra College. “We have also moved fish in Ranipokhari to Baisdhara last year after they started dying,” Shrestha added. He said the KMC has also planning to harvest rain water at Ratna Park and Tudhikhel to fill the pond.
