KMC started to take action on the Kathmandu Mall, Sundhara, the Cultural Undertaking, World Trade Centre, Sajha Bhandar Limited, Bhotahiti, Tripureshower Plaza, Alfa Beta Institute, Kathmandu Business Park and Kathmandu Plaza, Kamaladi -- who had failed to pay their taxes within deadlines.According to the KMC Revenue Department Chief, Ramesh Kafle, hotels like Royal Singhi, Hyatt Regency Hotel, Hotel Radisson, Hotel Shankar, Hotel Mountain, Landmark Hotel and Hotel Marcopolo among others have failed to clear taxes despite the KMC's repeated request for the same.
Although the number of tax payers was on a rise of late, big hotels and business complexes still dilly-dally to pay tax on time, shared Kafle.
The Revenue Department claims that the Everest Hotel and the Yak & Yeti have not paid their taxes since their establishment.
KMC is gearing up to take action against these tax defaulters as per the Clause 165 (2) of the Local Self-Governance Act, 2055.
As the KMC starts tightening the noose against the tax defaulters, some hotels and commercial complexes like RB Complex, Khichapokhari, Bina Chamber, New Road, CTC Mall- Sundhara, Baneshower Plaza, Baneshower Department Store, Pashupati Plaza- Khichapokhari, People's Plaza, Khichapokhari and Ambe Complex Teku, Jame Market, Ratnapark, Mahalaxmi Plaza, Khichapokhari, Kesh Plaza New Road and Nepa Complex, New Road have already paid their taxes, according to Revenue Department.
