KATHMANDU, July 11: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has slapped Rs 25,000 in fine to a company allegedly involved in disposing garbage in Dhobi Khola.
Taking to his Twitter on Monday, KMC Mayor Balen Shah said that the action was taken based on complaints received from social media.
“Video and photos of garbage being dumped in Dhobi Khola are being discussed on social media. After conducting a thorough investigation, the company involved in this has been slapped with a Rs 25,000 fine as per the existing laws,” he wrote in his tweet.
Mayor Shah has even uploaded the receipt of payment in his tweet.
The KMC has fined Practical Waste Solutions Pvt. Ltd based in KMC-9. The action came after videos of the company regularly dumping garbage in Dhobi Khola became public.
