KATHMANDU, May 6: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has implemented a new regulation requiring a fee of Rs 2,000 for the registration of foreign breeds of dogs.
According to the new regulation, which implements the microchipping process, foreign breed dogs must be identified and registered at the ward office. This fee has been set in accordance with pages 81 and 86 of the Economic Act, 2051, which was passed by the 36th Municipal Assembly of the KMC.

However, the registration for local breed dogs remains free of charge as before.
The KMC published a notice in the Gorkhapatra National Daily on April 2, urging the public to microchip dogs and cats before keeping or selling them.
