KATHMANDU, Sept 29: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has reiterated that any activity other than walking is prohibited on footpaths.
The mayor of the metropolis, Balendra Shah said, “The metropolis implements the policies taken for sustainable urban management. At present, the issue of easing business on footpaths is baseless. We are conducting our programs with integrity.”
Mayor Shah said that under the infrastructure policy of the current financial year, the use of footpaths will be made easy and simple for easy movement of pedestrians. “The provision is being implemented that all activities other than human movement will be prohibited on footpaths,” he said.
Similarly, Spokesperson Nabin Manandhar has clarified about the program of the metropolis stating that the KMC’s attention is drawn to the news published/broadcast in connection with the footpath business with the context of Dashain. He said, “This program will not be postponed or made flexible due to festivals or other reasons.”
