KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has given seven days’ time to Gopi Krishna Cinema Hall located in Chabahil to pay the outstanding tax.

On Wednesday, the metropolis sent a team including the city police to make the cinema hall pay the entertainment tax, business tax, property tax and other taxes due from the fiscal year 2021/22 within seven days.

They have not paid taxes for more than two fiscal years. “In the meantime, there is no data on how many people watched the movies screened there, how many shows were held in the cinema hall," Dhruv Kafle, head of the Revenue Department of the metropolis, said.

According to Kafle, action will be taken according to the Financial Act of the metropolis if the cinema hall owner fails to pay the taxes. They have said that they will come within seven days to complete the legal process. After that, it will be decided how much the cinema hall needs to pay," said Kafle.

Earlier, even when the metropolis asked the cinema hall repeatedly, it kept refusing to pay the due amount. KMC Police Inspector Ishwari Prasad Wagle and two cars of city police had gone to Gopi Krishna hall on Wednesday.
