KATHMANDU, Dec 23: Discipline in-charge (DI) positions will no longer exist in schools within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).

According to Sitaram Koirala, the education officer of KMC, the decision comes in response to complaints about the discipline in-charge creating fear, psychological distress among young students. They are also accused of having a negative impact, including the infliction of physical punishment on students.
The metropolis said the decision was taken to foster a student-friendly learning environment and has officially communicated to schools not to appoint discipline in-charges. Additionally, on Friday last week, the metropolis asked schools not to compel students to purchase extra uniforms under the guise of festivals.
