KMC bans smoking in public areas with effect from September 17

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has banned smoking in public areas from September 17.

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has banned smoking in public areas from September 17.


KMC, issuing a notice, informed the public about the provision that smoking is prohibited in public places from September 17.

The metropolis in a public notice said, “From September 17, the act of smoking cigarettes, bidis, cigars, chewing tobacco, raw tobacco, smokeless tobacco or other similar substances in public places is prohibited.”


If found smoking in public places, the person will be expelled from the public place or fined as prescribed by the Tobacco Products (Control and Regulatory) Act, 2011 for violating the law.
