KATHMANDU, Sept 7: Karnali Janadhikar Manch (KJM) has demanded with the authority concerned to declare Karnali as a special autonomous zone while considering State Restructuring.
Organizing a press conference in the capital city on Tuesday, KJM Chairperson Prakash Rokaya expressed his concern that the government was not investing adequately for the development of basic infrastructures in Karnali zone although it is rich in natural resources.

Stating that the government had not granted rights to this zone in its initial draft of State Restructuring, Rokaya wailed that the locals here would be deprived of their rights as there was no mention of Karnali for its representation from the province assembly of Province No 6.
He further stated that although Karnali zone occupies 15 per cent of the total landmass of the country, the locals here were not able to realize the economic and social transformations despite the several political achievements achieved in the country.
Among the programmes the KJM is organizing towards this cause include submission of letter along with a draft on State Restructuring to the concerned authority and holding interaction events among stakeholders, including Legislature-Parliament and Election Commission of Nepal Office among others.
