“As the news of finding a boy´s dead body spread like a wildfire, I rushed to Ghorlaha River. It was my son´s body,” Bachchu Mandal, Pawan´s father, said. According to inspector Bhubaneshwar Sah, the body was loosely buried and has already started to decompose.
Bachchu had informed the District Police Office (DPO) of Saptari on Sundayabout his son´s kidnapping on Sunday. Pawan had gone to the river for fishing on Saturday evening and did not return home.
After he received an SMS demanding Rs 500,000 as ransom Sunday, Bachchu sought police help, concluding that Pawan was undoubtedly kidnapped by professional kidnappers.
“The ransom demanded by kidnappers was so huge that it was impossible for me to arrange the sum even by selling all my property,” Bachchu said. “Therefore, I could not save my son.”
However, police say their preliminary investigation shows that Pawan was killed by someone who had personal enmity with Bachchu. Police have also rounded up some persons from the place where Pawan´s body was found.
The site where the body was found is just 100 meters from Bachchu´s house.
