Khumbuwan cadres attack police post

BIRATNAGAR, April 23: Khambuwan activists on Saturday afternoon attacked Area Police Office in Belbari in Morang district demanding release of their cadres. The attack has left at least three police personnel including police inspector injured, according to District Police Office, Morang.



Those injured in the incident include police inspector Rudra Prasad Chudal, Head Constable Gyan Bahadur Rai and Armed Police Force (APF) constable Sujan Rai. The condition of APF constable Sujan is critical. He is undergoing treatment at B P Koirala Institute of Health Science, Dharan. [break]



Police had to open two rounds of bullets to contain the situation after some 150 Khambuwan activists attacked the police office. Khambuwan activists had attacked police office after police refused to release Suman Dhimal of Bayarban-6 and Arjun Dhimal of Keraun-1.



They were arrested in course of quarrel with local youths in Belbari a few days ago.
