Khanal, Nembang, Gurung to contest from Ilam

ILAM, Sept 3: CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, former Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Nembang, and former General Secretary of the Nepali Congress KB Gurung are all set to contest the forth coming Constituent Assembly election from their home district Ilam.



It is learnt that Subas Nembang will contest the election from constituency No. 1, Jhalanath Khanal will fight the election from constituency No. 2 while KB Gurung from constituency No. 3. [break]



Earlier, they had been elected to the erstwhile Constituent Assembly  from the same constituencies.



The UML party has officially proposed the names of Khanal and Nembang for constituency No. 1 and 2 respectively at a party meeting for the first-past-the-post system. Likewise, the NC has recommended the name of Gurung for constituency No. 3 for both first-past-the-post system and proportional representation system.



Khanal had become prime minister, Nembang CA chairman while Gurung had been appointed shortly as the CA chair prior to Nembang’s appointment to the erstwhile CA.
