"The UML leaders must protect the party´s policies and official lines and mustn´t surrender before the Maoists," Nepal, a senior UML leader, said at a function organized in Mahendranagar. He said the present government, headed by UML Chairman Khanal, has lost its relevance as it has utterly failed to deliver. [break]
"The present government has done nothing in its three-month tenure, therefore, forming a new government based on national consensus has become essential," he said. He said the government´s failure was entirely due to the prime minister´s lack of efficiency.
"We did not create any obstruction for the prime minister," he said.
Nepal also accused the Maoists of not working sincerely toward drafting the new constitution. He said there was no point in extending the term of the Constituent Assembly (CA) if the parties fail to come up with an integrated draft of the new statute before the CA term expires on May 28.
"Promulgation of the new constitution must be ensured before extending the term for the second time," he said.
