KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Times College has won the KEBS inter-college six-a-side football tournament title on Sunday. Anish Karki’s lone strike on the 7th minute delivered the title to Times against GEMS College. Anish Karki was adjudged the best forward of the tournament. His teammate Santosh Mahat was awarded with the best goal-keeper award. Ideal College’s Sagar Tamang was named the best defender, whereas GEMS’ Bhupen Rajkoti was awarded the best midfielder of the tournament. Similarly, Ideal College defeated Beats by 3-2 to secure the third-place finish. The winner Times received cash prize of Rs 25,000 and the runner-up GEMS bagged Rs 15,000. Gokarneshwor Municipality’s mayor Santosh Chalise and college principal Manoj Prasad Bhattarai distributed the prizes. KEBS is set to provide scholarships for bachelor studies to top players under four categories of the tournament. Sixteen teams from 11 colleges of Kathmandu had participated in the tournament played at Chabahil in Kathmandu.
