KATHMANDU, May 13: Kantipur City College- Red (KCC-R) and Triton College advanced into the semifinals of the KIST Bank 6th KCC Running Trophy Cricket Tournament by defeating National College (NC) by 84 runs and PUSET by 101 runs, respectively, at the TU Ground on Wednesday. KCC will face Triton College (TC) in the semifinals.[break]
Winning the toss, KCC chose to bat first. KCC posted 154 runs losing three wickets in their allotted 20 overs. National player Dipendra Chaudhary continued his excellent run of form to hit 82 runs off 51 balls. His score includes five hits to the fence and four sixes. Nirmal Simalgaida and Bidan Giri took a wicket each for NC.

Opener Bidhan Giri was the highest scorer for NC. Three of NC batsmen were out without a single run as man of the match Amit Alok ravaged the NC batting line up by claiming a hat trick. The medium pacer ended the match with a five-wicket-haul conceding just 10 runs in four overs as NC were bundled out for 70 runs in 19.1 overs.
Similarly in the day´s second quarterfinal match, TC beat Purvanchal University School of Engineering and Technology (PUSET) by a wide margin of 101 runs. Winning the toss, Triton posted 156 runs losing six wickets. Man of the match Puspa Thapa (56) and Prem Chaudhari (41) were the major contributors to TC´s score. Rabi Gartaula, Saroj Deo and Kundan Singh bagged a wicket each for PUSET.
In reply, PUSET could only muster 55 runs losing all wickets in 16.1 overs. Pravin Pradhan, who made 20 to carry his bat, was the only one to reach a double figure for PUSET. Rupesh Srivastav, Ritesh Singh and Ajay Rajbansi claimed two wickets each for TC.
