Kavre landslides: Death toll reaches 72, five missing

KATHMANDU, Oct 4: The death toll from the recent landslides in Kavre has risen to 72, with five individuals still unaccounted for. The District Police Office in Kavre reported that 18 fatalities occurred in Panauti Municipality and 12 in Bethanchok Rural Municipality.

Currently, two individuals are missing in Temal Rural Municipality, while one person each is unaccounted for in Dhulikhel Municipality, Namobuddha, and Chauri Deurali Rural Municipality. Search operations are ongoing for the missing.

Medical treatment continues for 21 injured people, while 57 others have been discharged after receiving care. Panauti, Bethanchok, Roshi Rural Municipality, and Namobuddha Municipality, which experienced significant damage, have appealed for assistance in the wake of the disaster.
