CHAUTARA, Jan 23: Only the five-kilometer tunnel of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project has remained to be constructed.
Of the total 27.5-kilometer-long tunnel stretching from Ambathan of Helambu, Sindhupalchowk to Sundarijan, 22.5 kilometer-tunnel has already been completed, Executive Director of Melamchi Drinking Water Development Committee Ghanashyam Bhattarai said.
If the work goes as planned, drinking water will be supplied to the people in Kathmandu by Dashain festival of the year 2017.
The company has planned to complete the construction of the remaining five-kilometer tunnel by the second week of August.
