KATHMANDU, June 5:Kathmandu Valley, one of the places worst affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, has so far reported a total of 248,861 cases of the coronavirus disease including 193,507 cases in Kathmandu, 20,695 in Bhaktapur and 34,659 in Lalitpur districts.
Of the total cases confirmed, 22,044 people are still undergoing treatment for the disease, according to the updates released by the health ministry on Saturday. The highest number of active cases has been reported from Kathmandu district --- 13,159. Similarly, there are 5,118 active cases in Lalitpur and 3,767 in Bhaktapur districts.

The Valley, where Nepal’s federal capital lies, has witnessed a total of 2,485 deaths caused by the viral infection so far - 1,676 in Kathmandu, 334 in Bhaktapur and 475 in Lalitpur districts.
The district administration offices of the three districts of the Valley have been enforcing prohibitory orders since April 29 in a bid to halt the transmission chain of the second wave of the virus. The orders have been extended three times and will remain in force until June 14.
Meanwhile the Valley confirmed 885 new cases on Saturday.
