Kathmandu NC holds tea reception

KATHMANDU, April 24: The Nepali Congress, Kathmandu District Working Committee organised a tea-party and greeting exchange program on the occasion of the Seventh Democracy Day (Loktantra Diwas) and the New Year of Bikram Sambat 2070.



On the occasion, General Secretary of NC, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, said that the role of periodic election is important to institutionalize democracy.[break]



Sitaula added that it is necessary to promulgate constitution as per the interests of the people by holding election to the new Constituent Assembly (CA) by mid-December.



Similarly, NC leader Man Bahadur Bishwokarma, stressed on the need of maintaining democracy and rule of law for the progress of the country and people.



He said NC is always firm on the norms and values of democracy.



Another leader, Tirtharam Dangol, expressed the belief that the Democracy Day will give inspiration to people to head towards progress by holding new CA election as economic and social development was only possible if political rights received by Nepali people from long struggles are guaranteed.



Working Committee President, Bhimsen Das Pradhan, said that the Democracy Day and New Year will inspire us all to fulfill the historic responsibility with new encouragement, excitement and determination.



The programme was organised at the Shantibatika, Ratnapark.
