Kathmandu metropolis records 95.5 percent literacy rate

KATHMANDU, Sept 13: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has recorded 95.5 percent literacy rate. The metropolis has a population of 862,400.

KATHMANDU, Sept 13: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has recorded 95.5 percent literacy rate. The metropolis has a population of 862,400.


Infrastructure development and physical progress of projects and programs implemented in the fiscal year 2023/24 is recorded at 53 percent, said Sumitra Lamichhane, chief of the KMC's Plan Monitoring and Evaluation Unit.

Of the Rs 24.198 billion budget allocated for the last Fiscal Year, KMC spent only Rs 12.345 billion. Rs 1.566 billion was spent on the projects and programs implemented by the local levels, provincial and federal offices in Kathmandu in FY 2023/24.
