KATHMANDU, Dec 27: The Karnali and Lumbini province governments have signed an agreement for cooperation for the first time since the country embraced the federal system of governance. In Surkhet, the Chief Ministers of the two provinces signed a 19-point agreement to promote cooperation between the two provinces.
Chief Minister of Karnali Province Yam Lal Kandel and Lumbini Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya have expressed their commitment to implement the agreement, which was signed for the first time after the establishment of the provincial governments.

A commitment has been expressed between the two governments for cooperation in various fields including royalties of Bheri Babai Diversion and Kohalpur-Surkhet 132 KV transmission line. Both governments believe that cooperation will play a significant role in the development and prosperity of both provinces by forming a common opinion on the issues of concern of the two provinces.
After the agreement, Chief Minister Kandel expressed commitment to the implementation of the agreement, stating that since Karnali has a direct connection to the major border point of Lumbini, the first-time practice after transitioning to a provincial structure aims to convey a new message.
Lumbini Chief Minister Acharya claimed that the commitments would not remain limited to just commitments.
