Karki becomes Mr Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The departmental team Nepal Army Club’s Ramesh Karki has won the title of the National Open Mr Kathmandu Body Building Tournament on Saturday. 

Karki won the ‘Mr Kathmandu’ title after becoming first in the competition between the champions of six weight categories held at Nepal Academy in Kamaladi. 

Karki entered the title race after becoming first in the 75 kg weight category, and defeated City Fitness’ 55 kg champion Umesh Dangol, Fitness Garage’s 60 kg winner Amir Thapa and 70 kg champion Mithun Lama, Shapes To Fitness’ 65 kg winner Bibek Bista and Galaxy Fitness’ 75 kg winner Lalit Dhimal to win the tournament. 

With the title, he was rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 150,000, and got additional Rs 15,000 for standing first in the weight category he participated in. Also, the top three players of each weight category were given Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. 

Likewise, in women’s Athletics Physiques, Roji Pakhrin of Total Fitness finished in the first place, while Bhaktapur’s Sanam Mul Guthi and Wave Physical Fitness’ Jasmine Lama stood second and third respectively. 

Also, in junior men’s Mr Kathmandu category, Jimkhana’s Ojesh Charan Joshi became first, while Paradise Fitness’ Kishor Karki and The Byayamshala’s Hritik Ghimire finished second and third respectively. 

In the Men’s Sports Physique up to 170 centimeter category, Fitness First’s Ishor Shahi, Fitness Plus’ Bishuram KC and Shapes To Fitness’s Rajeev Thapa finished in the top three places in order. 

In the same category of over 170 centimeter, Jimkhana’s Dheeraj Gharti won the gold, while Shape To Fitness’s Giriraj Roka and Body Garage’s Yuwak Khan finished on silver and bronze medals respectively. The winner was rewarded with Rs 30,000, while the runner-up and the third-placed players received Rs 15,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. 

The two-day tournament saw a participation of 136 players.
