KATHMANDU, APRIL 8: Karishma Karki won four more gold medals on Wednesday to take her gold medals tally to eight so far in the ongoing national games. [break]
Karki won the gold in women’s 50m freestyle and 4x100m freestyle relay on Wednesday afternoon to add to her two in the morning. The swimming sensation had added two more golds in the morning winning women’s 200-meter freestyle and the 200-meter backstroke at the Satdobato swimming complex. She had won four on Tuesday.
Karki won the 200 meters freestyle in 2 minutes 46.21 seconds; Shreya Dhital finished second, and Sudha Shrestha took the bronze.
The same trio hogged the podium for another event too. Karki won her sixth gold in the 200 meters backstroke by finishing the distance in 3 minutes 08.10 seconds; Shreya Dhital and Sudha Shrestha claimed the silver and the bronze, respectively.
Karki finished 50m freestyle in 35.47 seconds and partnered with Shreya Dhital, Sudha Shrestha and Eakta Gurung to win the gold in 4x100m relay. The group finished the relay in 5 minutes 32.97 seconds. Earlier in the morning, Karki won the gold in women’s 200 meters freestyle and 200 meters backstroke events.

She can finish the Games with 11 gold medals with her three events remaining.
In women’s 50m backstroke, Bividata Rimal, Sudha Shrestha and Sonia Gurung secured top three spots, respectively.
In men’s 200m backstroke, Sailesh Karki bagged the gold by finishing the event in 2 minutes and 58.25 seconds while Kishin Lal Tharu stood second.
In men’s 100 m backstroke, Pushpa Raj Shahi clinched the gold and Kishin Lal Tharu bagged the silver.
Similarly, Chandra Singh Mahato bagged gold in the men’s 100 m butterfly event while Sailesh Rana and Vagirath Dhimal stood second and third respectively.
Prassidha Jung Shah earned gold in men’s 50m freestyle and Rajiv Chitrakar and Om Bahadur Kumal bagged silver and bronze medals, respectively.
