KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Kanjirowa National School, in collaboration with Karkhana and the Robotics Association of Nepal (RAN), is hosting a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) symposium themed 'STEAM' at the school premises on Sunday.

This year's symposium includes special celebrations, brainstorming sessions for school leaders and educators on STEAM, and engaging students with hands-on activities to develop 21st-century skills. The Students’ Participation in Design Challenge and Robotics Competition will be held from 9 AM to 3 PM, and Teachers’ Workshops will be held from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM, according to the school.

The program will feature a theme-based design challenge (DC) for girls to celebrate Women in Science, as February 11 marks a special recognition for them, along with the President Cup-Yantra Kids Competition for students participating from more than 60 schools in the Kathmandu valley, said Principal Ranjit Thapa.

Interactive workshops on Navigating Tomorrow’s Classroom: Unveiling ICT, STEAM, and AI (grades 6–10) and Integrating Hands-on Activities in Primary Curriculum (grades 1–5) are deemed crucial for incorporating STEAM into teaching.

Similarly, school leaders and educators from dozens of schools will brainstorm a pertinent issue in education: a reflective workshop on integrating STEAM in ECD. “The reflective workshop aims to deliberate on the much-sought educational practice of using the STEAM approach in ECD, the foundation of life," states a press statement issued by the school.

With facilitators Rajendra Dahal and Sunoj Das Shrestha, the session is expected to be a paramount opportunity to set a tone in our context by incorporating science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics as a model of learning, especially for pre-primary learners.

The school has expressed the belief that the symposium will bring together students, educators, and professionals from various disciplines who are passionate about STEAM education, exploring the prospects and its impacts on the future of learning.
