KATHMANDU, Jan 2: To mark the beginning of the new year 2025 in the Gregorian calendar, the Pokhara-based Lokpop rock music group, ‘Kandara Band,’ has released a new song titled ‘Hunechha: The Song of Hope.’
The group, which is celebrating its 32nd year in the music industry, has introduced this song as a new step in their musical journey, according to lead vocalist Vivek Shrestha. He shared, "We have completed 32 years in music, having formed a group of young people who enjoys music. After a brief hiatus, we have released this song which is centered on building a positive society, possibilities, prosperity, and sustainability. This song is particularly meaningful for patriots." He mentioned that the song aims to inspire Nepali people to take responsibility, unite, and move forward.

The lyrics and music for ‘Hunechha: The Song of Hope’ were composed by the band's drummer Sunil Thapa. The music video’s direction and story were crafted by Kedar Bhusal. The band’s lineup includes Sunil Thapa on drums, Dev Lama on lead guitar, Pankaj Jha on bass guitar, Avinash Gayak on madal, and Umesh Thapa on keyboard.
Some of Kandara Band’s popular songs among the younger generation include Lekaki Hey Maya, ‘Bidesiera Gaiin Uni’, ‘Chanchale Kanchhiko’, ‘Bhedi Gothaima’, ‘Hong Kong Pokhara’, ‘Tagaroma Rumal’, and ‘Bichara Ma’.
