Congress protest rally in Kathmandu



The main opposition Nepali Congress has staged protests across the country against the government’s authoritarian and undemocratic decisions. In Kathmandu, the protest rally started from Bhotahity.The rally passed through Asan, Indrachowk, Bishal Bazar, New Road and reached Shanti Batika and converted into corner meeting. Kathmandu based lawmakers and leaders addressed the mass.


Bilateral mechanism active to implement Nepal-India cooperation commitments: Dahal



CPN Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that the bilateral mechanism was working actively to bring into effect the commitments and pacts between Nepal and India for mutual cooperation.

3 killed, 1 critically, in Rasuwa road accident


Three people have died and another one sustained severe injuries after a container van, Na 6 Kha 4929, met with an accident in Gosainkunda rural municipality-5 of the district.The container van was enroute to Rasuwagadhi from Dhunche. According to Krishna Poudel, Chief District Officer (CDO),  the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.


Malaysian cabinet to discuss issue of Nepali workers



The Home Ministry of Malaysia will brief the Cabinet on Friday (Aug 3) over the Nepalese government's decision to bar its workers from coming to Malaysia. The Malaysian Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran said that the briefing will also include steps to resolve the issue for a "win-win" situation for both nations.


3 in 5 babies are not breastfed in the first hour of life



An estimated 78 million babies – or three in five – are not breastfed within the first hour of life, putting them at higher risk of death and disease and making them less likely to continue breastfeeding, according to a new report by the UNICEF and WHO. Most of these babies are born in low- and middle-income countries.


"Only a beginning" - Khadka dreams of more ahead of Nepal's first ODI



Nepal will play their first-ever One-Day International game against the Netherlands on Wednesday (August 1) but Paras Khadka, their captain, believes this is just the beginning for his side. Nepal had secured the ODI status by beating Papua New Guinea in the ICC World Cup Qualifier in Harare in March this year.
