KATHMANDU, Dec 23: A single bench of Judge Nitij Rai is scheduled to hear the case against five defendants, including chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane. The case was filed by the Kaski District Government Attorney’s Office (DGAO) at the District Court, Kaski, on Sunday.
Earlier today, five of the defendants were presented to the Kaski District Court for recording their statements on Monday. Along with Lamichhane, the former vice president of Gorkha Media, Chhabi Lal Joshi, GB Rai’s partner Ram Bahadur Khanal, director of Nature Herbs International Pvt Ltd, Leela Pachain and the operator of Suryadarshan Co-operative, Krishna Gurung, were presented to the court this morning.
Judge Neupane’s bench to hear fake Bhutanese refugee case
It is reported that the judge will decide whose statement will be taken first only after studying the documents. The statement-recording will start today at the Kaski District Court.
Earlier on Sunday, the Kaski DGAO, filed a case against 31 people, including Lamichhane, on charges of cooperative fraud. A case has been registered against Lamichhane at the Kaski District Court on three charges - organized crime, cooperative fraud and money laundering.
