KATHMANDU, March 22: Rajan Mukti-led Janatatrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (JTMM-Rajan), a Tarai-based armed group that entered into peace negotiations with the government in January, announced on Monday that it has pulled out of the peace talks unilaterally.
The group´s coordinator Rajiv Jha told a press conference in Kathmandu that the reason behind his outfit´s decision was that the government hasn´t implemented 6-point agreement reached with his group on January 10 in Janakpur and the police continued to harass his cadres.
Let’s live in peace and embrace diversity
In the January agreement, the government had promised safety of JTMM-Rajan talks team members, among other promises, and the group had vowed to suspend all its armed activities. The government had also agreed to release arrested JTMM-Rajan cadres.
Jha also called Constituent Assembly members from Tarai districts to resign from their post and join the struggle.
