KATHMANDU, Sept 26: The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP)-Nepal has implemented its new party statute.
Implementing the statute, the party is in the process of significantly reshuffling the party committees at all levels, from the central to the local level. As part of the restructuring process, it has downsized the Koshi Province Committee to a 51-member body. Prior to this, the Committee had around 150 members, according to party publicity and publication department chief, Purna Basnet.
The party is collecting details of the central members from each province. Party leaders and cadres who are presently inactive have been removed from the members' list.
The JSP’s new statute includes a provision for the formation of a 151-member central committee. However, at present, there are around 400 central members in the party. Some 250 members will be removed from the central committee.
During the upcoming three-month JPS organization expansion and orientation campaign, the party aims to restructure its committees at the province and local levels, Basnet said.
