According to Council Chair Karki, the new journalists' code of conduct aimed to make Nepali media and journalists more responsible towards their profession which has also recognised online journalism. The previous journalists' code of conduct was more focused on print media, but the new had widely recognised radio, television and online media as well, he added. It has also adopted the international media practices, he said.

With the promulgation of new journalists' code of conduct, the Journalist Code of Conduct- 2060 BS (Amended and Modified, 2064 BS) has been scrapped.

The new journalists' code of conduct has defined the ethics of journalism in 15 points and banned the online media from removing the published materials, Council's Deputy

Administrative Officer Deepak Khanal said. Likewise, every media is allowed to prepare their separate code of conduct that will be monitored by the Council. RSS
