KATHMANDU, Nov 16: Jeet Jung Basnet has been picked as the President of Nepal Tarun Dal, the youth wing of ruling Nepali Congress (NC), through the fourth General Convention on Wednesday. Basnet is considered close to NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
New office-bearers have been selected based on the negations among leaders representing different factions.
Likewise, Bhupendra Sahi, close to NC senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, has been picked General Secretary, Bidhwan Gurung, close to leader Khum Bahadur Khadka, as Treasurer and Uttam Kumar Chapagain, close to leader Krishna Sitaula, Vice-president.
An agreement has been reached to select members for the remaining positions after returning to Kathmandu.
Meanwhile, an agreement has also been reached to make the Central Working Committee 95-member strong from the existing 61 members.
