Japanese envoy meets PM Bhattarai

KATHMANDU, Nov 6: Newly appointed Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Kunio Takahashi paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai at the latter´s office, on Sunday. .



During the meeting, Japanese envoy Takahashi expressed his commitment to support for the peace process from his position.[break]



Similarly, representatives of the Amnesty International Nepal met with Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayankaji Shrestha at his office and demanded for amending the Rome Statute under the International Criminal Court.



The AI- Nepal emphasized on the necessity of amending the statute to give justice through International Court as impunity was flourishing in the country of late.



On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha said the government is committed to end the impunity flourishing in the country to improve human rights situation in the country.



He also assured that the government will have necessary discussion with all parties and move ahead for the amendment of the statute.
