Japanese defense minister arrives in Nepal

KATHMANDU, May 2: Vice-Minister of Defense of Japan, Nobuo Kishi, arrived here Saturday afternoon on a two-day visit of Nepal.



He will inspect the activities of Japanese arms monitors working under the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) to familiarize himself with the activities of UNMIN, said a statement issued by Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu.

He will also pay a courtesy call to Minister for Defense, Ram Bahadur Thapa, during the visit.



Japan has been giving tremendous interest in Nepal´s peace process since it deployed six members of the Japanese armed forces to serve as arms monitors with UNMIN in 2007.
