Japanese aid for Construction of Community Learning Resource Center

KATHMANDU, March 14: The government of Japan has extended financial assistance totaling USD 85,628, equivalent to Rs 9,159,627 approximately, to the Innovative Forum for Community Development (IFCD), a non-governmental organization based in Kathmandu.

The support is extended under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), a scheme of the government of Japan for 2015, read a statement issued by the embassy of Japan in Kathmandu.A grant contract for the project is scheduled to be signed and exchanged between Masashi OGAWA, ambassador of Japan to Nepal, and Prakash Singh Adhikari, executive president of IFCD, on Monday at the Embassy of Japan in Nepal.

The Government of Japan has designated the financial assistance to support the construction of a community learning resource center in Tanglichowk, Gorkha district, an area greatly affected by last year's earthquake. IFCD, in partnership with the Institute of Public Policy and Action Research (IPPAR) and Maya-Prem Memorial Trust, will provide teacher training for twelve schools at this resource center.
