KATHMANDU, Nov 25: The Government of Japan handed over a newly constructed girls’ hostel to Shree Kali Devi Secondary School (SKDSS) in Bagmati Rural Municipality, Lalitpur District, today. Japan’s Ambassador to Nepal Kikuta Yutaka attended the ceremony.
Built under Japan's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) with funding of USD 156,881 (Rs 20.5 million), the hostel aims to provide a secure environment for female students who previously faced long commutes or had to rent rooms near the school.

According to a press release issued by the Embassy, Ambassador Kikuta highlighted Japan's continued support for SKDSS, including classroom reconstruction after the 2015 earthquake. He expressed hope for proper maintenance of the facility and urged students to contribute to Nepal's development while fostering ties between the two nations.
Established in 1962, SKDSS serves around 350 students from Lalitpur and Makwanpur. The project was implemented by Love Green Nepal, a non-governmental organization active in education, environment, and community development since 1991.
Since its inception, GGP has supported over 200 grassroots projects in Nepal, strengthening bilateral ties and advancing community development, according to the press statement.
