KATHMANDU, March 26: Janakpur Cricket Club has won the first match of the 3rd Shahid Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament by 56 runs defeating Kathmandu’s Oasis Cricket Club in a match held in Janakpurdham on Monday.
Home team won the toss and elected to bat first. Player of the match Sudhir Chaudhary top scored with 70 runs from 59 deliveries which included seven fours and two sixes as Janakpur made a total of 131 runs for the loss of six wickets at the end of 20 overs. Left-handed batsman Hari Shankar Sah and skipper Anil Mandal were cheaply dismissed for three and two runs respectively.
Janakpur and Sonnet to vie for Shahid Cup title
Pace bowler Ram Naresh Giri and off-spinner Sah led the bowling attack picking up two wickets each as Oasis crumbled for 75 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 18.4 overs. Janakpur bowlers Sunil Mishra, Samshad Sheikh, Bishal Sushling and Rahul Pratap Singh chipped in a wicket each. Sunil Dhamala and Raju Rijal top-scored for losing team Oasis scoring 19 and 17 runs respectively.
Oasis will face against Indian team Rajputana Regiment from Dharbhanga in the first match on Tuesday followed by the match between home team Janakpur and Kalaiya Cricket Club.
