Janakpur Bolts set 137-run target for Lumbini Lions

After losing the toss and being invited to bat first at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Janakpur managed to score 136 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

KATHMANDU, Dec 8: Janakpur Royals have set a target of 137 runs for Lumbini Lions in the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Sunday.


After losing the toss and being invited to bat first at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Janakpur managed to score 136 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.


Captain Anil Shah scored 45 runs for Janakpur bolts. Lahiru Milantha scored 24 runs, Aasif Sheikh scored 16 runs.

Young spinner Abhishesh Gautam took 3 wickets for Lumbini giving 20 runs in 4 overs. Similarly, Captain Rohit Paudel took 2 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs. Saad Bin Zafar took 2 wickets for 12 runs in 3 overs. Sandeep Zora took 1 wicket for 13 runs in 2 overs.


Although Janakpur started well, they lost quick wickets in the middle overs. Janakpur, who were at 9 for 1 at one time, lost 7 wickets after adding 41 runs.


In the first wicket partnership, Anil Shah and Aasif Sheikh contributed 48 runs, and Janakpur were at 56 for 1 during the power play. However, in the 12th over, Sandeep Jora dismissed the set batter, Anil Shah, allowing Lumbini to make a comeback in the bowling.


In the 13th over, Abhishesh dismissed Janakpur’s three foreign players Lahiru Milantha, Harsh Thaker, and James Neesham. 


Janakpur Bolts have won three matches in the ongoing NPL, while Lumbini Lions are yet to secure a victory.
